Harpocrates at the International Symposium on Computer Based Medical Systems (CBMS 2023)

2.2.2023 17:53

As part of the HARPOCRATES dissemination and scientific engagement activities, CanaryBit and Universitätsmedizin Gottingen are co-organizing the Special track on Security of e-Health Systems and Connected Medical Devices, part of the IEEE 36th International Symposium on Computer Based Medical Systems (CBMS) 2023. The track will be organized by Nicolae Paladi from CanaryBit and Lund University, Sweden and Dagmar Krefting from University Medical Center Göttingen, Germany.

The motivation for the special track is rooted in the growing dependence of healthcare organizations and protocols on IT systems and IoT devices. These technologies are relied upon to provide patients with improved quality of care and to offer 24/7 healthcare across borders through modern e-health services. The COVID-19 pandemic has particularly highlighted the need for secure, trustworthy, and reliable exchange of health records and diagnoses in hospitals.

Remote medical care became the norm within the past few years. Despite the benefits, increasing reliance on healthcare on IT and IoT introduces security threats to the security of health information and patient records.

The aim of this special track is to offer a forum for research related to the security and resilience of smart health infrastructures that consider smart devices and systems, information security, medical devices security and interconnectivity, as well as usable and cost-effective solutions that promote resilience and fast recovery in case of incidents.

The special track will cover a range of topics, including:

  • Health data privacy and security
  • Cascading effects from combined complex threats
  • Cyber security of connected medical devices
  • AI/ML for improved cybersecurity
  • Semantic interoperability and reasoning on security data
  • Secure health data sharing
  • Privacy-preserving computations on medical data
  • Use Cases analysis and description
  • Experience reports
  • Usable security for healthcare systems
  • Federated learning on health data
  • Trustworthy AI

The 36th IEEE International Symposium on Computer-Based Medical Systems (IEEE CBMS2023) will be held at the University of L’Aquila, L’Aquila, Italy, from Thursday 22th to Saturday 24th of June 2023.

Attracting a worldwide audience, CBMS is the premier conference for computer-based medical systems, and one of the main conferences in the fields of medical informatics and biomedical informatics. CBMS allows the exchange of ideas and technologies between academic and industrial scientists. The scientific program of IEEE CBMS 2023 will consist of regular and special track sessions with technical contributions reviewed and selected by an international programme committee, as well as, keynote talks and tutorials given by leading experts in their fields. The CBMS 2023 edition also aims to host high-quality papers about industry and real case applications as well as allow researchers leading international projects to show to the scientific community the main aims, goals, and results of their projects.
