TUNI Researchers Share HARPOCRATES Results at PETS 2024

Mindaugas Budzys and Tanveer Khan from Tampere University (TUNI) presented HARPOCRATES research at the 24th Privacy Enhancing Technologies Symposium (PETS 2024), held on 15–20 July 2024 in Bristol, UK.

PETS is a leading international forum dedicated to advances in privacy-preserving technologies. The symposium brings together researchers and practitioners from around the world to present novel methods, exchange ideas, and discuss challenges in developing technologies that protect users’ privacy in the digital environment.

Research Contribution

At the symposium, the HARPOCRATES team presented the paper:

“Need for Speed: Leveraging the Power of Functional Encryption for Resource-Constrained Devices.”

This research investigates how functional encryption (FE) can be adapted to run efficiently on devices with limited computational capacity, such as those found in IoT ecosystems. By focusing on reducing computational overhead and improving scalability, the work shows how FE can be applied more effectively in real-world scenarios where both security and performance are critical.

Connection to HARPOCRATES

The HARPOCRATES project aims to advance privacy-preserving cryptographic and machine learning solutions. By demonstrating how functional encryption can be optimized for resource-constrained settings, this work directly contributes to HARPOCRATES’s goal of enabling confidential and secure data processing across diverse application domains.
