HARPOCRATES VOICES – Tamas Kiss

Tamas Kiss is a Professor of Distributed Computing at the University of Westminster in London. He is the Director of the Centre for Parallel Computing and also leads Research and Knowledge Exchange within the School of Computer Science and Engineering. Since 2020, he has been serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Grid Computing, published by Springer Nature.

He holds a PhD in Distributed Computing, as well as MSc degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science, and in Electrical Engineering. His main research interests include cloud computing, distributed systems, and the use of these technologies in industrial and scientific applications.

Over the years, he has led or participated in more than 20 UK and EU-funded research projects. His work includes the development of MiCADO, an open-source cloud orchestration platform designed to support the deployment and management of container-based applications.

Professor Kiss has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and continues to supervise PhD students in areas related to cloud computing and data processing. His research often involves working with industry partners to help bring digital technologies into real-world use.

He is the Technical Coordinator of the Horizon Europe project HARPOCRATES, which focuses on privacy-enhancing technologies and secure data processing. In this video, he provides a general overview of the project and its objectives.
